Container Surface Profile Mapping

M2D-laserScanners create a profile map of the container surface, while the container is rotated.

The containers need to be recognised by the number for different reasons of automatic billing, refunding and later refilling. The serial number includes characters for brand and type of beer packaged into different containers. Glass Shape Measurement

Measurement of Glass Shape, a manufacturer of automotive glass windows has recently completed a successful factory evaluation of Philtec’s model DMS-RC171-R non-contact fibre-optic sensor.

Hip Knee Simulator

AMTI-Boston 12-Station Hip Simulator Model HS2-12-1000 The AMTI-Boston Hip Simulator, developed with William H. Harris, M.D., simulates hip motion with simultaneous loading in a physiologic environment. Laser Scanning for In-Process Dimensional Inspection

The M2D Laser was used to verify the proper size and orientation of components prior to the next welding process. Software was developed to determine the various components, size and orientation and is then compared to a tolerance band, providing a pass/fail to the supervisory PLC. Data is also stored that can be used for inspection using the 3D Graphical Display functionality of imc's FAMOS Analysis Software.

Measurement of Door Gap Production

Door gaps were measured in the automobile industry past in most cases mechanically, in some cases with camera systems. This kind of measurement takes a lot of time, and the test could not be done online as a 100 % test. MEL now introduces a new gap measuring and monitoring system, based on the well-known M2D LaserScanner. The prototype has been installed for a field test in the world’s largest automotive production plant.

Measurement of Thickness w 2 LVDT

Accepting two independent displacement signals, the Daytronic Model 4032 allows direct measurement of thickness when the two inputs are summed by means of an internal "Calculate" channel. The 4032 supplies regulated excitation then demodulates, filters and ampluifies the resulting signal. The "MAX minus MIN" function is useful when you need to know the precise range of an excursive phenomenon like runout, wobble or looseness. For each input, each of the three predefinable limit zones of the tared reading is tied to a specific nonlatching output.
