CANSASfdx-FBG-T8, Fiber Optic Strain and Temperature Sensor

- No influence from electrical voltages or magnetic fields
- Corrosion and moisture resistant and can be used in explosive environments
- Small diameter Fiber Optic Sensors ( 0.5mm, 1 mm & 1.5mm)
- Strain measurements with 10X higher bending radii and 1,000X more cycles compared to traditional foil strain gages
- Long sensing runs without loss of quality (up to several hundred meters)
- Long service life without maintenance
- Low installation costs and short set-up times
Fiber Bragg Grating (FBG) sensors consist of a glass fiber into which one or more sensing areas are optically characterized with Laser Etching. The Laser Etching provides an initial wavelength frequency of reflective light that changes when the fiber is subjected to Strain (external physical movement) and/or Temperature (due to internal thermal expansion).
The single optical excitation port can support multiple sensors on one measurement string. The optical fiber at the sensing area and the instrument are completely electrically decoupled.
The laser inscribed FBG sensor is integrated in a thin glass capillary housing with a diameter. As such it reacts quickly to the physical or thermal influence and can be installed in small spaces.
The operating temperatures of -40° C ... +220° C is standard. The O.D. of the sensors range from 0.5 mm, 1mm and 1.5mm, depending on the housing.
