The XL403D represents a breakthrough in accelerometer technology, being the first to support SCPI-like commands and provide data in engineering units directly usable with an ASCII terminal emulator. This digital triaxial accelerometer excels in delivering precise measurements across ranges from ±2g to ±15g, with the added versatility of user-configurable settings. Its smart sensor capabilities allow for the performance of basic functions such as evaluating minimum, maximum, magnitude, peak-to-peak, and tilt computations directly on the device, significantly reducing the need for extensive post-processing.
Equipped with a temperature sensor and a microcontroller, the XL403D samples data at 10-bit resolution, ensuring accurate temperature compensation and the execution of additional programmed functions. Outputs are configurable via the RS-485 interface, with a customizable 5-pole LP filter setting between 1Hz and 800Hz for tailored data analysis. Each sensor output undergoes full temperature compensation, enhancing measurement accuracy by minimizing variations due to temperature changes and aging effects. With built-in calibration in accordance with NIST standards, and a self-test feature for verifying channel integrity, the XL403D is designed for precision across a wide range of applications, from industrial monitoring to advanced research projects.
