The R30A RVDT (Rotary Variable Differential Transformer) stands out as a premier solution for precise angular position sensing. This AC-operated sensor, notable for its lightweight construction and non-contact electrical design, ensures exceptional long-term reliability, surpassing traditional rotary devices like synchros, resolvers, and potentiometers. Its innovative design eliminates the need for components that typically degrade over time, such as slip rings and contact brushes, without compromising on accuracy.
The R30A achieves its high reliability and performance through a specially shaped rotor and wound coil, simulating the linear displacement characteristics of an LVDT. This results in a linear change in output signal amplitude directly proportional to the shaft angle, with the phase of the output signal indicating displacement direction. Its non-contact electromagnetic rotor coupling offers infinite resolution and absolute measurements to a fraction of a degree.
Designed for AC operation, the R30A eliminates the need for integrated signal conditioning, allowing for a broad operating temperature range from -55°C to +150°C. Calibrated for a ±30 degree range with a non-linearity of less than ±0.25% of the full range, it can extend up to ±60 degrees with increased non-linearity. Encased in a compact, size 11 servo mount, anodized aluminum housing with flying lead termination, the R30A is perfectly suited for applications where space is at a premium.
