GCA SERIES - Description

The GCA Series represents a lineup of heavy-duty, AC-operated gage heads that excel in demanding conditions, where moisture, dirt, and fluid contaminants are present. These spring-loaded LVDTs (Linear Variable Differential Transformers) are equipped with precision linear bearings, enabling accurate measurements over long strokes of up to ±2 inches. Each unit boasts a hermetically sealed housing with an IEC IP68 rating up to 1,000 PSI, ensuring durability and protection against ingress.

Key features include a 25 µ-inch repeatability for precise measurements, hardened tool steel contact tips for durability, and high side load resistance to withstand operational stresses. The series is designed for a long cycle life and can operate at high temperatures, making it suitable for a wide range of industrial applications.

The internal construction of the GCA Series prevents core and shaft rotation during longitudinal movements, enhancing measurement accuracy. An integral electrical connector simplifies installation and maintenance, while the external ½-20 mounting thread and included locknuts aid in adjustment and secure mounting.

Vacuum impregnated windings with high-temperature, flexible resin, and a two-component epoxy-potted coil assembly offer superior protection against environmental hazards like vibration and shock. The solid stainless steel barrel and bronze bushing design reduce the risk of probe damage and bending, particularly in longer stroke versions, contributing to the series' overall structural integrity and reliability.
