PT8510 - Description

Engineered to excel in demanding industrial environments, the PT8510 cable actuated sensor merges advanced measurement technology with robust construction. Capable of operating with an unregulated power supply ranging from 14.5 to 40 VDC, it delivers a reliable output signal directly proportional to the linear displacement of its measuring cable. This sensor's design allows for a maximum measurement range of up to 60 inches, with four distinct voltage output options to cater to a variety of application needs: 0...10, 0...5, 10...+10, and 5...+5 VDC.

The PT8510 boasts a high accuracy range of ±1.00% to 0.15% full stroke and excellent repeatability of ±0.05% full stroke, supported by an essentially infinite resolution for capturing precise measurements. The measuring cable, available in nylon-coated stainless steel or thermoplastic, ensures durability and performance consistency. Encased in powder-painted aluminum or stainless steel, and offering the patented Velocity Limiting System (VLS) option to prevent free-release damage, the sensor is built to withstand the rigors of heavy industrial use while maintaining IP68/NEMA 6 protection standards.

Installation is straightforward, enabling quick setup in spaces where traditional rod-type sensors are impractical. The PT8510's ability to operate without perfect parallel alignment adds to its versatility, making it an ideal solution for a wide range of industrial applications. With a maximum load capacity of 5000 ohms and zero and span adjustments available, this sensor adapts easily to various system requirements, ensuring reliable and accurate performance in even the harshest conditions.

The PT8510 offers an optional Celesco Velocity Limiting System (VLS) to prevent cable damage by limiting retraction speed to 40-55 inches per second, ideal for preventing mishaps in mobile applications. However, VLS is not available for medium/high tension or 2, 5, and 15-inch stroke ranges.
