The Body Pressure Measurement System (BPMS™) is a versatile and precise tool for analyzing interface pressure across various support surfaces. It delivers high-resolution pressure data without altering the characteristics of the surface being evaluated, making it ideal for clinical and research environments focused on seating, cushioning, and positioning strategies.
Using ultra-thin, flexible sensor mats, the system pinpoints concentrated pressure areas that may contribute to pressure ulcers or tissue breakdown. This objective insight helps clinicians scientifically select the most suitable cushions or mattresses, optimize patient posture, and monitor healing or progression of wounds over time.
The system captures real-time data up to 100 Hz, offering both numeric pressure values and intuitive visual displays. It enhances documentation, patient communication, and therapeutic decision-making. Multiple sensor configurations are available to support various body sizes and clinical applications.
Available Sensor Configurations
The BPMS system supports multiple sensor models tailored for different clinical and research applications. Each sensor offers a specific combination of sensing area, spatial resolution, and mat quantity, allowing users to choose the best fit for full-body, seat-only, or segment-specific pressure mapping. The chart below outlines the key specifications for each sensor option:
-
Seating and wheelchair assessments
-
Mattress and bedding optimization
-
Positioning for long-term care patients
-
Rehabilitation, post-surgical recovery, and wound monitoring
-
Ergonomic research and cushion testing
Body Pressure Measurement System (BPMS) | |
BCE 5315-1 | High Resolution – 1 point/cm² - Seating System |
BCE 5330-1 | Low Resolution – 0.5 points/cm² - Seating System |
5315 Sensor | High-resolution seating sensor with a sensing area of 48.77 × 42.67 cm; ideal for detailed pressure mapping on seat surfaces. |
5350 Sensor | Compact, high-resolution seating sensor (41.66 × 38.61 cm); best suited for smaller seating applications where spatial detail is critical. |
5330 Sensor | Low-resolution seating sensor with a square sensing area of 47.14 × 47.14 cm; ideal for general seat assessments or portable use. |
5400N Sensor | Large-area, low-resolution mattress sensor (57.80 × 88.40 cm); commonly used for supine body positioning or pressure sore monitoring on mattresses. |
System Configurations
BPMS is available in modular system configurations designed for both seating and mattress pressure mapping. Each system includes one or more pressure sensor mats, selected based on the required coverage area and the level of detail needed. Configurations vary by resolution, size, and the number of individual sensing points to meet a range of clinical or research needs.
